Extraction of Water

First, our Sanibel flood and water restoration technicians will remove any furniture or put it aside or on blocks. Then, we utilize an extractor to remove water from wood floors and/or carpet.  If the water damage is from dirty water, some carpet will need to be thrown away; otherwise, we will clean the carpet if we can . Carpet pads may also need to be thrown away and replaced. If there is water damage affecting a wall, we will remove the baseboard and drill small holes in the wall. This allows air movement to dry the wall.

How it Works

Before any of the above can be done, first we need to find out where all the water is.

1,  Picture #1 shows the three water gauges that work in conjunction with each other to show where the water is.

2.  Checking for water in the walls.

3.  Checking for water in the carpet.

4.  The yellow indicates there is water in the area he just checked.  The purple indicates no water.

After going through the building and determining where all the water is, we then begin the water cleanup.

Following the water cleanup, we then get to numbers 5 and 6, placing fans and dehumidifiers where they are needed to help dry the areas faster.  This also helps in preventing mold and mildew to grow.
